Dr. Ryan Dhuet is a native of Lafayette, LA and graduated from Lafayette High School. He attended Francis Marion University in South Carolina while playing college soccer before finishing his undergraduate degree at LSU. He then graduated from the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. Upon graduation, he practiced mixed animal, zoo, and exotic medicine in New Iberia for 4 years. He is currently the staff veterinarian for Zoosiana and has been for 3 years prior to coming to LVCC.
Dr. Dhuet’s desire to become a veterinarian began at a very young age and he has always had a desire to care for animals and promote the human-animal bond. He shadowed his mentors for 7 years at the zoo as well as at a mixed animal hospital before veterinary school. In school, he was a Merial Summer Scholar and performed research observing the effects of NSAIDs on colonic mucosa in horses. He was also awarded the Food Animal Proficiency Award in 2013. He was the AAVA president for 2 years (2015-2017) and is a member of the inaugural LVMA Power of Ten class.
Dr. Dhuet lives with his Golden Retriever, Jolie. He enjoys coaching varsity girls soccer in his off time as well as mentoring pre-veterinary students. He enjoys playing sports as well as spending time with friends, the outdoors, and woodworking.
